(get it? Works of Craft?) A little memory kickstarter for this and that, crafts and cooking, shoes, ships, sealing wax...

Road trip

Back from touring the Midwest.
I know, the landscape is boring and monotonous, but I love its openness.
Blurry trails of blue and green and brown, rushing past the window.

Fishies and Lizards, oh my!

Last Tuesday, we went to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago for my birthday.

Five hours and almost 300 pictures later, I was thrilled!

The sea horses and the penguins were especially cute (but did not like to have their pictures taken...)

That diver, however, was mugging for the camera like crazy as he was feeding the fish & talking about them. Even some small sharks in there! I hope they keep them well fed.

Little blue lizard dude...

his green brother...

and their big brother Larry!

Blogability

In other news, it is raining and 40 degrees. And Martha Stewart's Everyday Food recipe for "tasty polenta fries" is beyond blah.

Lion Brand caption contest:

(my suggestion was: "Harold B. hated how his wife Edna complained about the "unruly" new rug. That was the last time he would buy her a surprise gift!")

Pink flowers

Bought a huge container of cute little pink flowers (phlox subulata) which turned out very colourfully in my turquoise flower boxes.

Now to add some tomato plants with that, and voilĂ : instant garden.

Inspire! Craft blogs/websites

There's a certain number of blogs and website I like to visit just about every day *mostly to make myself feel bad for being so unproductive*. Let's see..

The top two:
http://maizehutton.blogspot.com/

http://mollychicken.blogs.com/my_weblog/
(wow. talk about being productive. I recently spent just about an entire day going through her past writings!)

Other favorites:
craftster, of course - a huge forum for craft projects: http://www.craftster.org/
http://www.craftlog.org/craftlog/
http://knitfits.blogspot.com/
etsy - the crafter's eBay: http://www.etsy.com/index.php
http://www.craftlog.org/craftingjapanese/
http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTkate.html
http://weewonderfuls.typepad.com/
http://mangetsu.blogspot.com/
http://www.helloyarn.com/wp/
http://www.karineriksson.se/blog/
http://greenbeanbaby.typepad.com/
http://whipup.net/

hooo.. and so many more...

Also, I just got a package from Kawaii http://www.kawaiigifts.com/home.html -
too much money
for a bunch of stickers and some note paper,
but everything is SOO cute!

The package contained pretty tissue paper
and there was a smiley face on the invoice,
how can you not love that!

Flagrantdisregard

I've been playing around with the tools at http://flagrantdisregard.com/flickr/
You can upload pictures and turn them into motivational poster spoofs (see above), comics (see below), CD or magazine covers and, of course, my beloves mosaics.

The Hair-Bear is so cute and fuzzy, but we secretly think he's actually plotting. What might a cat be plotting? Evil, unspeakable things. I'm sure.

Fun on the internet

While meandering through the internet I've stumbled across several interesting websites -

the DEATHCLOCK *ooh that sounds spooky*
http://www.deathclock.com/
is the "Internet's friendly reminder that life is slipping away... second by second. Like the hourglass of the Net, the Death Clock will remind you just how short life is". Apparently my "personal day of death is Friday, July 21, 2045". Fair enough, I've never liked August anyway.

something a litte more uplifting - sand sculptures!
http://www.teamsandtastic.com/
now if that doesn't make you long for the beach...

and back to being morbid:
http://thebigview.com/pastlife/
if you enter your birth date, it tells you about your previous life. As for mine, I especially like this part:
"The lesson that your last past life brought to your present incarnation:
Your lesson is to develop a kind attitude towards people, and to acquire the gift of understanding and compassion."
Heh. So I was Attilla the Hun before, or what?

ooh one more - Monopoly cards we'd like to see:
http://www.dribbleglass.com/monopoly/index.htm
"You won 2nd prize in a beauty contest. Next year, sleep with more judges." Heh.

Botanic Garden

We were at the Botanic Garden on Friday. Yay for Spring! And - drumroll - we saw one of my favourite animals: a chipmunk! Tee hee! And some swans, geese, robins, and lots of big fishies in the lakes. The Japanese Garden, my favorite, is undergoing some heavy construction work, so William was busy ogling the bulldozers and cranes while I was taking pictures. Men!
